Design Research
I have developed ecology models, together with brand and UX design teams. For this, we designed and conducted qualitative studies (remote and in-person interviews), synthesized data, and developed personas. I have presented insights, design principles, and recommendations to inform communications strategy/roadmap and UX design.
Clients have included: The National Institutes of Health, a Fortune 500 Healthcare Company, a department at Harvard, and Mercy Corps/ IRC.
Examples:
ALL OF US RESEARCH PROGRAM
Was part of the Wondros team dedicated to user research efforts for the All of Us Research Program (formally the Precision Medicine Initiative), the largest health and medical research program in our nation’s history, funded by the National Institutes of Health. We conducted research that will influence the program’s entire user experience from the website and mobile application to marketing communications, program planning, and strategy.
REFUGEE.INFO
Developed, for Mercy Corps and International Rescue Committee, in conjunction with other NGO partners and Google, Refugee.info, a portal geared towards refugees and migrants moving through Greece and the Balkans. Conducted user experience research, worked with technology and protection teams to ensure the most critical information was getting to refugees in the most effective and user-friendly manner. Worked with over 30 international and local organizations to get and verify information from eight countries, managed translations and reviews, and trained editorial team. Used by international NGOs and over 100,000 migrants.
QUARTZ PROJECT
Flux, thinkstep, Health Building Network, and Google launched a startup for the public good: Quartz Project, a collaborative open-data initiative designed to help owners, architects, and designers make improved decisions based on the impact of their construction projects. Our team worked with product leaders, shaping the site’s content strategy, visual design, and brand, as well as the interaction design of the product database. Our aim was to make it easy for visitors to browse for ideas, explore commonalities, conduct comprehensive analyses, and offer feedback.
